How to Clean Robot Vacuum Sensors
Sensors are how a robot vacuum sees the world, and a thin layer of dust on them can cause navigation glitches that look like bigger problems.
Which sensors need attention
Cliff sensors on the underside (which stop the robot falling down stairs), the camera or LiDAR window, and bump sensors on the front bumper are the main ones worth wiping periodically.
What dust buildup causes
A dusty cliff sensor can cause a robot to stop at a normal floor transition, thinking it is a drop-off. A dusty camera or LiDAR window can degrade mapping accuracy over time.
How to clean them
A dry microfiber cloth is usually enough for most sensor windows — avoid liquid cleaners directly on sensor housings unless your manual specifically says it is safe.
