Where to Place the Charging Dock
Dock placement affects docking reliability more than most people expect. A few basic rules avoid most of the common problems.
Give it clearance
Leave open space to the sides and in front of the dock — most manufacturers recommend at least half a meter — so the robot can approach and align without obstruction.
Choose the flooring carefully
Place the dock on a hard, level floor rather than on carpet or a rug, since an uneven or soft surface can throw off docking alignment, especially on self-empty bases.
Keep it near a wall, not a corner
Against a flat wall with clearance on either side gives the robot the most reliable approach angle. Tight corners are a common cause of repeated failed docking attempts.
