Setup & Mapping
Multi-Floor Mapping Explained
Homes with more than one level need a robot that can remember multiple maps. Here is how that actually works in practice.
How multi-map support works
Robots with multi-floor support save a separate map per level and detect which one you are on, usually by recognizing the dock or asking you to confirm in the app when you carry it between floors.
What breaks it
Carrying the robot between floors without a dock on each level generally works fine for occasional use, but frequent floor-switching without a dedicated dock per floor can be a hassle if the robot needs to charge between runs.
A dock per floor
If you plan to run scheduled, unattended cleans on multiple floors, a dock (and ideally a second unit or at least a spare battery routine) on each level removes the manual carrying step entirely.
