How to Set Up a Self-Empty Base
A self-empty base needs a little more setup than a basic charging dock. Getting it right avoids the most common early frustrations.
Install the bag correctly
Most bases need a disposable bag or reusable bin installed and seated correctly before the first empty cycle — a loose or misaligned bag is the top cause of "base not emptying" complaints.
Give it power and clearance
Self-empty bases need a dedicated outlet and the same clearance rules as a basic dock, plus enough overhead space for the base itself, which is taller than a simple charging dock.
Understand the empty cycle
The base only empties the robot after it docks following a clean, not continuously, and it may skip an empty cycle if the robot’s bin is only lightly full — this is normal, not a malfunction.
