Robot Vacuum Cleaning Modes Explained
Most robots offer more than one cleaning mode, and picking the right one for the situation gets better results than always using the default.
Auto mode
The default for scheduled, whole-home cleaning — a balanced pattern and suction level suited to general maintenance rather than a specific problem.
Edge and spot modes
Edge mode focuses on perimeter cleaning along walls and baseboards; spot mode concentrates repeated passes over a small, specific area like a spill.
Deep clean or max suction
A higher-suction, often slower mode for heavily soiled areas or thicker carpet — worth using selectively rather than as the default, since it drains the battery faster.
